Terms of Service

These are the simple terms for using Senior Scam Center. We've kept them short and in plain language. By using our website and tools, you agree to them.

Last updated: June 13, 2026

The short version

  • We're a free educational service to help you spot and avoid scams.
  • Our tools are helpful guidance — not legal, financial, or professional advice, and not a guarantee.
  • Always use your own judgment, and when in doubt, contact the official company or the Elder Fraud Hotline.
  • Please use the site honestly and don't misuse or abuse it.

1. Using Senior Scam Center

Senior Scam Center ("we," "us," "our") provides free educational information and tools to help older adults and their families recognize and avoid scams. By using this website, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

2. Our tools are guidance, not professional advice

Everything here is for general educational purposes. We are not a law firm, financial advisor, bank, or government agency, and nothing on this site is legal, financial, medical, or other professional advice. Our scam checks and the Ask Scam Guard assistant give you a helpful opinion based on available information — they are not a guarantee that something is safe or unsafe. Always use your own judgment and verify important matters independently.

3. No warranty — provided "as is"

We work hard to keep the site accurate and available, but we provide it "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We can't promise the site will always be available, error-free, or up to date, or that a scam check will catch every scam or never flag something safe.

4. In an emergency

If you believe you are a victim of fraud or are in immediate danger, contact your local authorities, your bank, or the Elder Fraud Hotline at 1-833-372-8311. This website is not an emergency service.

5. Acceptable use

Please use the site lawfully and honestly. You agree not to:

  • Use the site to break the law or harm others.
  • Submit other people's personal information unlawfully, or upload harmful or abusive content.
  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape in bulk, hack, or reverse-engineer the site or its tools.
  • Impersonate us or misrepresent your connection to us.

6. Information you submit

When you submit a scam report, contact message, or question, you give us permission to use it to operate and improve the service and to help protect others from scams, as described in our Privacy Policy. Please do not send us sensitive details like your Social Security number, passwords, or full account numbers — we never need them.

7. Links to other websites

We link to outside resources (like government agencies and trusted organizations) for your convenience. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or practices. Visiting them is at your own discretion.

8. Our content

The articles, guides, names, and logos on this site belong to Senior Scam Center or are used with permission. You're welcome to read and share our educational content for personal, non-commercial use with credit, but please don't copy it wholesale or use our branding to imply endorsement.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Senior Scam Center is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of (or inability to use) the site or its tools, or from relying on information here. Some places don't allow certain limits, so parts of this may not apply to you — and nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes will be noted on the site. Continuing to use the site means you accept the updated Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which we operate, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
